Privacy Policy
The 850 exists to protect veterans — and that starts with protecting your information. Here is exactly how we handle it, in plain language.
What we collect
- What you give us: your name, contact info, county, service details you choose to share, and what you post.
- We do not collect or store your Social Security number or your DD-214.
- We avoid collecting health information. If a feature ever needs it, we will ask first and tell you why.
How we use it
To run the platform, connect you to programs and benefits help, and improve the service. Analytics are kept separate from your identity and use anonymous identifiers.
What we will never do
- We will never sell your data. We have no advertisers and no data brokers.
- Businesses that post deals never see your personal information — only that a verified veteran claimed a deal, and a one-time code.
- We never share crisis or health-related information for analytics or marketing.
Verification
When we verify veteran status, we use trusted services and store only a yes/no result and a code — never the underlying records.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export, or delete your information at any time — just ask. We honor do-not-sell and browser opt-out signals.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with role-based access and audit logging.
